About Sue (Snaphappy)

Hello! Thanks for checking out my website!

A little bit about me:

I have many loves in my life including my children, children-in-law and 5 grandkids, my 35 years as a midwife supporting women through their pregnancies and births, traveling to the many unique corners of the world, and rambling around the White Mountains of New Hampshire (where I live) with my favorite camera in tow. I picked up the name “Snaphappy” on the trail, and have traveled and hiked in many wonderful places in the world and loved every step along the way. From Antarctica to Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe, I have photographed some of the most interesting and beautiful people and places on this planet we all share. I retired in 2018, and started retirement off with a 670 mile hike along the amazing Camino de Santiago in France and Spain. The next big adventure begins April 3, 2021–hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. So, if you happen to find yourself looking into the business end of my camera lens, give a smile and a wave, and point the way north!

The Pacific Crest Trail, my next BIG challenge: The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a spectacular National Scenic Trail which starts in California at the Mexican boarder and winds its way about 2,650 miles northward through the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, on up through Oregon and Washington states through the Cascade Mountains, ending just over the Canadian border. I had planned to start this hike in 2020, and I drove out to California to finish trail preparations. Unfortunately for me (and the world), Covid worsened, and the trail, like much of our life, was closed due to Covid concerns. This year, I’m going back and hope to take about 5.5 months to walk every one of those hot, dusty, high, cold, wet, dirty, spectacular miles.

Please join me through my posts along every step of my life and the way North!
